Weekend Wrap Up

How was everyone's weekend??  I have to be honest, my weekend was really boring, although I'm not complaining!  I have a big project due on Friday and I spent the weekend trying to work on it.

My poor daughter hasn't gotten much Mommy time this past week.  I have felt like the worst Mom ever, thankfully she has a great Dad who always picks up my slack!  How does everyone balance everything in their lives?!?  I try my best not to let the craziness in my life get in the way of being a mom, but from time to time it does happen.  :(

I did manage to sneak a little mommy daughter date in this weekend, it was awesome!  Harper and I have gone to the mall the past few Saturday mornings for a few hours.  We walk around and see the puppies, play in the kid's area, and eat some lunch.  It is one of my favorite times of week!

Other than that, she played, watched some TV and hung out with Gaga all weekend!

Don't mind the messy laundry room!  Harper loves hanging out in here!

Sorry it wasn't the most exciting post, but hey life could be worst!  I'm thankful for a healthy and happy little girl!  Enjoy your Tuesday!

Water fun

Harper loves playing in water, she enjoys baths and really liked swim lessons.  I have been looking for fun ways to keep her little self busy throughout the day.  We went shopping last week and I picked up a dish tub (I don't know if that is the official name, but one of those tubs you can use if you hand wash the dishes).  Anyways, I got it for a dollar at the Dollar Tree, I also got her some kid-friendly soap, and we went to town!

I laid a blanket down on the kitchen floor, filled up the tub with soapy water and we dumped some of her dishes into the tub.  She got out a kitchen rag and began to wash her dishes!  I can't tell you how much she enjoyed this simple little activity.  It kept her busy and happy, plus she is learning how to help around the house (maybe I will have her doing her own laundry by 2 1/2 ....lol).  She really enjoys real-life experiences, she loves to help me with the baking, cleaning, or any other house hold chore.  We have caught her trying to peel her fake carrots over the garbage like I do and she has a real fascination for Nana's sewing machine, who knows?!

Here are some pics from our fun afternoon:

By the way, her clothes were soaked by the end of this (so was the blanket)!  We just threw everything in the laundry, easy enough!  Happy Friday everyone!!!

Herb Steak

Well I was planning on posting the past two days but I am really struggling getting everything done. Sorry, I don't mean to keep giving excuses, but life is just keeping me really really busy!  The good thing is, I will be done with all my major class assignments by Thanksgiving!

Last night I made Herb Steak which is a recipe that my mom has been making ever since I can remember.  It is perfect for the cold winter weather (yes, we got snow) and it is a crock pot meal, so easy easy easy!!  As I went to pull out the recipe from my mom's recipe box, I noticed it wasn't in her handwriting.  It was her mom's writing, pretty cool to be making something that she used to make and enjoy!  Plus, comparing her handwriting to my mom's was kind of fun, they don't look anything alike.

Well here is the recipe for Herb Steak...

1 2lb. beef round steak (ours was slightly under 2 lbs.)
1/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
2 tbs. oil (we used pam instead)
1 medium onion sliced
1 can of cream of mushroom soup
*Matt and I love mushrooms so we added a tub of sliced mushrooms to our dinner
3/4 tsp. Italian seasoning

Directions:
Cut meat into serving size pieces (we actually did small chunks).  Then, dip the meat into flour and brown in the oil (or pam).  Finally, throw the meat, salt and pepper, mushroom soup, onion, mushrooms (if you want), and Italian seasoning in.  Cook on low for 8-10 hours, honestly it was ready at 8 hours.

It might not be the prettiest picture, but trust me, it is delicious!!  I particularly enjoy the onions and mushrooms, but it all tastes great!  We had ours with mashed potatoes and salad.  It is the perfect cool weather dinner!  Enjoy and see you tomorrow, I promise!

Pot Roast Sliders and Creamy Chipotle Sauce

Happy Friday!!  I'm so glad this week is over and I can relax *a little* this weekend!!  I'm going to keep this post really short and sweet today.

I haven't made this dinner since I lived in North Carolina, but it was a favorite dinner for sure!  I'm not really sure why it hasn't made an appearance in PA yet, but it is sure to be featured at my dinner table sometime soon!

First off, it is a crock pot meal, who doesn't LOVE one of those?!!   Secondly, it is really fun, who doesn't enjoy a slider?!  Thirdly, it is really easy...and easy calls my name every single day in the kitchen.  So, even though I don't have a picture of this meal, and I haven't made in since we moved back, I must say this really is a GOOD dinner!  I didn't want to leave you for the weekend without something good, I promise you if you try it out, you will enjoy it!

Again, sorry for the lack of pictures and excitement on my blog today.  I was looking through my recipes and came across this one, and I just so happened to remember where it came from.  I really hope you enjoy it and this weekend!  Thanks for stopping by and see you Monday!  Next week I hope to have some fun and exciting things for you all, along with a tasty family meal!  See you then!

Nursery Rhyme Time

Do you remember hearing nursery rhymes when you were growing up?  I remember listening to them and trying to recite them.  I also remember my mom made my sister and I a recorded tape that had stories and nursery rhymes on it to listen to as we went to bed.  I remember babysitting for a family that did the same.  I think that is such a fun idea and maybe one of these days I will learn how to do something like that for Harper!  I know every time she is upset and I ask her if she would like me to tell her a story she always calms down!

Anyways, I realized I don't really remember many nursery rhymes so I was looking them up the other day.  I came across a really great you tube channel, http://www.youtube.com/user/MotherGooseClub.  There a bunch of different nursery rhymes all animated with bright colors, fun pictures, and good music!  Harper doesn't sit long for anything, but she really enjoys these short clips.  They hold her attention and now she will learn all the classics like I once did!

After a little bit more exploring with nursery rhymes I discovered that the Mother Goose Club has a website too!!  It is an amazing site with so much to do!  If you scroll down on the home page they have a list of all the nursery rhymes.  Each has a link for a kids page, (where they can hear the song, or listen to it, or print it out) a parents page, (with a little historical background on the rhymes) and sheet music for each!  There are also links to videos, coloring sheets, and a store!  It is definitely worth checking out, I wish I knew about this site when I was teaching first grade!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thursday and thanks for stopping by!

Fun Finds

I'm so happy to have a little bit of my life back today!  I just spent the last two days doing parent-teacher conferences and report cards.  I am lucky enough to have a sub job that has lasted quite awhile, with that job does come a lot of responsibilities.  I always have enjoyed teaching, but report cards and conferences turn me into a crazy person!  I literally worry for weeks before doing them, you would think after 4 years they would be easier....not for me!  Anyways, I knew when I found out I would be doing report cards and conferences I had to take a break from blogging to start preparing.  They luckily went really well and I have a lot of really supportive and caring parents!  I don't know how long I will be subbing there, but it sure is nice to have the support!

Anyways, I'm back and I want to share a few fun finds I have come across lately.  First off, Harper is an outdoorsy girl, she loves being outside.  I know she will love the snow this winter too.  I was on the hunt for snow pants and boots for her.  I really don't know the average price for these things, but I stopped at the BonTon and found some deals (at least they seemed like deals)!  I wanted to share because they are still going on, check out the links!

The snow pants were originally $34.00 but are now $20.40, they are London Fog brand and seem like they will be really durable!  They have sizes: 12, 18, and 24 months for girls.  Colors: Pink, Purple, and Turquoise.  http://www.bonton.com/shop/kids/baby-girls-apparel/london-fog-baby-girls-snowbibs_668210.html

I checked it out for boys too... They have sizes 12, 18, and 24 months (all $20.40).  They also have 2T, 3T, 4, 4T, 5/6, and 7 (all for $22.80).  Boys colors come in black and navy.  http://www.bonton.com/shop/kids/boys-sizes-2-7/outerwear/london-fog-boys-12m-7-snowbibs_645403.html

I also got her a nice pair of boots for the winter.  I got her Sporto Black Boots.  They were originally $55.00 and on sale for $32.99.  Now, I figured that might be a little pricey for boots (but I'm not totally sure).  My mom did tell me that it was a good brand and they seem really durable. I got black because I figured I would save them for future little ones, I knew if I kept it neutral boys or girls could wear them!  She has a pink coat and pink snow pants (which looking back on it I almost wish I bought black in that too) so I don't think it will kill her not having pink boots! :)  http://www.bonton.com/shop/kids/shoes/sporto-boys-black-boots_673290.html  They come in black, blue, grey, pink, purple, and turquoise.

I also want to share that I recently went to Michaels and they had tons of little things that would be great for stocking stuffers.  I got really nice coloring books for $1.00 each!!  They were fairly thick and we got Sofia the First, Mickey Mouse, and Hello Kitty.  I couldn't believe they were only $1.00!!

I got nice sized bouncy balls and I think they were $1.00 or $1.50.  Toy dinosaurs (not wimpy little ones, solid large ones) for $1.00 each.  They also had some Halloween treat bag items on sale each for $1.00-$1.50.

I would really recommend heading to Michaels one day and just looking around.  As I went around the store I kept finding more and more!  Plus, they always have coupons available!  Download the app for the most convenient ones!

Well, I will be back soon with something fun, thanks for stopping by!  It's good to be back! :)

Halloween Fun

Sorry for the long break.  I really miss blogging but life has just gotten really chaotic the past week or so and I just have had to cut back on a few things, sadly blogging is one.  I hope to be back Wednesday!

Here is what Harper woke up to on Halloween morning...

Halloween is my favorite Holiday, I like to make it special all day long!!  Harper enjoyed her breakfast!

On Wednesday I took a break and spent some time outside with Harper.  The weather was great so I decided to get some pictures in while it was so nice!  Here is my little pumpkin posing and getting slightly annoyed that Mommy has to take so many darn pictures!

Harper with her pumpkin, "Abby".  She named her pumpkin after her friend, it was so funny!

My favorite picture!

Anyways, Halloween was rainy and gloomy, but it didn't rain on Harper's parade!  She enjoyed getting dressed up and passing out candy!  Bless her little heart she didn't get one piece!  Matt and I didn't really want to take her trick or treating (we knew we weren't going to let her eat the candy and it was rainy...don't judge, haha there won't be many more years we can get away with it).  She honestly loved hanging out on the front porch and giving candy to everyone that stopped by!  Here are a few pictures of her dressed up...

The Queen of Hearts

By the way, in case you didn't know I'm kind of strict on what I let her have.  I try to only give her natural and organic foods.  *I do give her a cheat here and there, but not too often and never anything that is dyed or fried.  I figure I might as well be strict while I can, once she gets older I won't be able to be as tough.  At least now when she is younger I don't have to worry about what is going in her body!  I heard a review about this candy called Unreal and I knew I had to get some for Harper.  It doesn't have artificial ingredients, preservatives, GMOs, or corn syrup, and it is gluten free.  The reason we go natural and organic for Harper is because of all the scary things that are put in foods these days.  If you are looking for more information I would recommend checking out this blog: http://www.100daysofrealfood.com/ She has a wealth of knowledge on natural living!  Anyways, we got some Unreal candy earlier in the month for her to try out and she loved it (we got it at Target).  It was all gone and I didn't get a chance to head up to Target to get more.  She survived and I really don't think she missed a thing, she was quite happy being a little helper!  Plus, I gave her a little cheat and threw a few chocolate chips on her pancake for breakfast!  Happy belated Halloween!  I hope you all enjoyed your day!!  Hope to see you on Wednesday, thanks for stopping by!
